Personal data protection (GDPR)

This statement applies to visitors and users residing in the European Economic Area and Switzerland.

This statement explains what personal data we process when you use our website and related services (account registration, access to paid content, payments, contact form), for what purposes and on what legal basis, to whom we make it available, and how long we retain it. In processing it, we are governed by the GDPR and the relevant legal regulations of the Slovak Republic.
2. What data we process, for what purpose and on what legal basis
2.1 Account registration and subscription management (paid blog)
Data: first and last name, email, password (hash), account settings, subscription data, account identifiers, IP address and technical logs.
Purpose: creation and management of the user account, access to paid content, subscription management.
Legal basis: performance of a contract or carrying out measures prior to concluding a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Retention period: for the duration of the account/subscription and 3 years after its cancellation for the purposes of any claims; accounting documents 10 years.
2.2 Payments via the payment gateway (Stripe)
Data: transaction identifiers, payment status, payment token, amount, currency, billing and tax data; note: sensitive payment card data is processed by the payment gateway, we do not store the complete card data.
Purpose: processing of payments, fraud prevention, accounting and tax obligations.
Legal basis: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)), fulfilment of legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c)), our legitimate interest in securing payments and preventing fraud (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Retention period: in accordance with legal obligations (generally 10 years for accounting documents) and for the period necessary to resolve disputes.
2.3 Contact form and customer support
Data: name, email, phone, content of the message, technical metadata (IP, time of sending).
Purpose: answering questions, support, pre-contractual communication.
Legal basis: performance of a contract/pre-contractual dealings (Art. 6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interest in communicating effectively (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Retention period: for the duration of handling + 3 years (for evidentiary purposes).
2.4 Marketing news (only if you sign up)
Data: email, preferences, statistics of opens/clicks in emails.
Purpose: sending the newsletter and offers.
Legal basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a)).
Retention period: until consent is withdrawn or you unsubscribe.
2.5 Analytics and personalization
Data: cookie identifiers, IP (shortened/anonymized, where possible), device and browsing data, interactions with the website.
Purpose: measuring traffic, improving content and user experience, or possibly personalizing content/offers.
Legal basis: consent for analytical/marketing cookies (Art. 6(1)(a)); necessary cookies on the basis of our legitimate interest in ensuring the functioning of the website (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Retention period: in accordance with the cookie settings – see the Cookie Policy.
2.6 Security and abuse prevention
Data: server logs, IP addresses, device identifiers, technical events.
Purpose: protection of the website, detection and prevention of fraud and attacks.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Retention period: generally 6 – 24 months.
3. Cookies
Our website uses necessary, preference, analytical and (if enabled) marketing cookies. Details, including a list of the cookies used, their purposes and their period of validity, can be found in the Cookie Policy, where you can also manage your preferences.
4. To whom we make the data available (recipients)
The data is processed by us and by processors we have engaged, always on the basis of a processing agreement and only to the extent necessary for the given purpose. Typically these are the following categories of recipients:

Hosting and IT services provider (operation of the website, maintenance, backups).

Payment gateway (e.g. Stripe Payments – processing of payments).

Email and delivery/marketing tool (sending of system and marketing emails – only with your consent).

Analytical and security tools (measuring traffic, protection against abuse).

Accounting and legal services (fulfilment of legal obligations).

Public authorities (if required by law).
When transferring data outside the EEA, we ensure adequate safeguards, in particular the EU standard contractual clauses, or possibly further measures.
5. Disclosure on the basis of law and corporate changes
We may disclose the data if required by a legal regulation or a legally valid instruction of a public authority. In the event of a change of ownership (sale, merger, acquisition), the data may be transferred to the acquirer under conditions that maintain the protection in accordance with this statement.
6. Security
We apply appropriate technical and organizational measures (encrypted TLS communication, access management, pseudonymization/anonymization, regular checks) in order to prevent loss, misuse or unauthorized access to the data.
7. Third-party websites
Our website may contain links to third-party services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices; we recommend reading their own statements (e.g. the payment gateway, analytical tools).
8. Your rights
In accordance with the GDPR, you have the right to:

erasure (“to be forgotten”) in the cases established by law,

object to processing on the basis of legitimate interest and to direct marketing,

9. Lodging a complaint
If you believe that your rights have been violated, you can lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority:

10. Children
Our services are not intended for persons younger than 16 years. If we find that we are processing the data of a person younger than 16 years without appropriate consent, we will take steps to erase it.
11. Automated decision-making
We do not carry out solely automated decision-making that would have legal effects for you or would similarly significantly affect you. We carry out personalization of content/offers only with your consent or on the basis of our legitimate interest, whereby you can object or adjust the cookie settings.
12. Retention periods – summary
